Is the USA the same as Al Qaida?

Soon we will be celebrating the American Revolution (July 4th lol lol) yet the colonists were doing terrorist acts such as throwing ships cargo into the sea in Boston Harbor or attacking British Officials. Does that make the USA similar to Al Qaida and President Obama the head of a illegal regime like Mummar Qaddaffi?
