What type of brush is best for my kitten?

i am getting a new kitten in the end of May or beginning of June and i was wondering what kind of brush to use for a kitten around the age of 10 months? im not sure if i am getting a long or short haired kitten because i will be getting it from a local SPCA. i heard that the best kind of brush is one with metal bristles but im not sure if that will hurt the kitten or not, i need a VERY good quality brush and don't care how much it costs. I just want my little kitten to be happy and healthy so i will be brushing him/her at least once a day.
