Why do atheists think they are monkeys?

A monkey is a different species within the Primeate family. That is scientific. I don't think humans evolved from monkeys. I feel we both evolved from a common ancestor. Monkeys are more of a cousin than a parent if you think of evolution like a tree. You don't say you are your own cousin even though you both come from similar ancestors.
